What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

The book I finished yesterday (I couldn't help myself) is Picking Up the Pieces by J. B. Abbott.

Jigsaw puzzle mystery

If you Google fiction jigsaw puzzle books, you'll find a few more. They are light fluff, like the knitting, scrapbooking, quilting murder mysteries, but it's good to read light fluff from time to time. It gives the brain a break!! I believe I ordered two more (physical) ones from the library!

What was the title of yesterday's blog? "If things aren't right, fix them now!"

Well, I did it again. I had a few ...

I love Advent calendars! A little treat or gift as a surprise each day is a perfect way to celebrate the season.

Thanks, everyone, for the fantastic comments! I MUST get back to responding to them. As for the floss, I did have a Waterpik at one point, which I don't think I ever used! BUT I understand the concept of it - I'll look into it. In the meantime, I flossed twice yesterday! And brushed once. It's a start! And yes -- I know that all that bacteria is not healthy for my insides! I'm trying! If I get a Waterpik, can I bypass going to the dentist? OK - just thought I'd try!

I have good genes, but ...

Just waiting for the email wth the photos to come through! It's been a super productive retreat so far, and we still have a few days to go. Can I finish the remaining quilt tops for the dog quilts? They will have to wait unit October to be quilted, but that's OK.

OK -- the pictures came through, but some of them need a bit of editing; however, that doesn't seem to want to happen this morning. No big deal -- some are sideways -- we'll just have to let it go.

This first picture is a bit weird ...

IT IS HERE!! I’m so excited to share the launch of the 2025 Mini Quilt Advent! This is the 5th year I’ve

Last year, Aurifil introduced their very first Advent calendar.  It was an overwhelming success and customers were so delighted that Aurifil has decided to continue the tradition. Il Borgo, Aurifil’s 2025 advent calendar is designed to capture the magic of the season through a maker’s lens. It invites quilters to rediscover the joy of anticipation — one colorful surprise at a time. Behind each door awaits a perfectly curated spool of Aurifil’s premium 100% cotton thread, ready to spark inspiration, creativity, and a few joyful moments just for you. It’s a celebration of craftsmanship, nostalgia, and the ...

OH MY! As I create a folder each day to store the blog photos, I date it. It's January 25 already! Where has the time gone?

Someone mentioned the stand-up/sit-down exercises. The chair height is important! Obviously, we are NOT doing this from a step stool. If you can do that, then you're still young! But try various chair heights, and as you become comfortable with one height, find something a bit lower. I get it that some of us have knee issues, so the height can't be too low. But how easily can you get ...

Are you moving during the day? I confess I did something I hadn't done for a long time yesterday: I read almost an entire book in one day. However, I can no longer sit in a comfy chair for long with this silly leg issue. By comfy, I mean the chairs in our living room. Even stretched out, they don't work. Although I sat there long enough to attract the girls, and they put on a show for me.

MOM - can you see us?

Oh, my --- I had another fantastic day! Do you ever feel guilty when you have a great day? Not guilty for others, but do you deserve a great day? Sometimes, I do, but then I've worked very hard to achieve this flexibility in my schedule, so I don't feel guilty. At least not for long. The more I do, the better I feel, and those days are becoming more frequent. I LOVE it.

Let me start with my teacher's story, and then I can get on with the rest of the day. I think I was struggling ...

Oh, what a tangled web I weave in the technology world. Yesterday, I attempted to download some documents, and somehow, I downloaded another web browser, and then BitDefender got in the way. So I managed to delete the web browser, and I thought I had solved the BitDefender issue, but apparently not. I'll deal with that later. In the meantime, things work, just different from how they used to!

I've alerted the website that caused the issue, and hopefully, they can fix it!

I had a reasonably productive day, but I'm not ready to share it with ...

Oh, great scot!!! I had trouble sleeping, so I got up and did some work. Then when I finally went to sleep, I went into a deep sleep, and I'm WAY BEHIND this morning. Why is that?

There are many other mysteries in this world. Why can't I log into my mySewnet account on my laptop, yet I can log into the account on my other computer and all of my devices? Yep—the world is a mystery, to be sure.

So here are a few hurried photos, as I have UFO club at 9:15, and I ...

Oh my -- we got out the hammers and crowbars yesterday, and this is what happened.

We demolished the Exit Game Advent Calendar

The EXIT Game Advent Calendar is no more! We were searching for the answer to the final puzzle. I swear I knew where it was, which involved removing the game's " liner " from the outer box. OH -- all I saw were some tags you could cut and use for Christmas gifts. That wasn't it.

Back to square one. That's what I love about this game- you think you're on the right track, yet you are ...

I found the CUTEST panel for an Advent calendar when I was at Sarah's in Kansas.  It was a train! You guys, this panel is ADORABLE and oh so easy to put together.I first layered the panel with batting and backing. Then I free motion quilted around the motifs on the panel.Next was making the "boxes" that the advent gift would go in.Then I sewed those to the panel.I trimmed it, and machine bound

I posted my end of the year report earlier this morning, and am amending it to report that I finished another mini quilt before the end of the year. This is an advent calendar with 24 pockets. I like all the designs for the days.

I bought the kit at the Connecting Threads sale. I bound it by machine with a decorative stitch.

I am not used to binding on the front so it did wind up wobbly, but I wasn't aiming for perfection when making it. It is a quick and simple quilt to make.

I want to ...

This is a great pattern for a Christmas wall-hanging, door decoration, or advent calendar. Get into your stash and make some stacks of light, medium and darker grays, 3 flesh tones, some whites, dark and bright reds and green for the background. Most of the squares are just 2-1/2″ squares with scattered paper piecing. You’ll be piecing columns as shown at right above. When you get to a white bit, you’ll stop and piece that from the two indicated colors continuing down ...
